Anti-Bias Practices

This session invites special guests Valeria Brown—speaker, social justice educator, Teaching Tolerance consultant, and found of #ClearTheAir—and Jess Lifshitz—Heinemann Fellow, NCTE Task force member and elementary educator who engages students in ongoing critically conscious study—to lead a powerful hour on creating communities that grow. You will explore tenets of anti-bias education and the practical methods and strategies to employ with students right away. Additionally, you will learn how to help students (and your adult communities of practice) in becoming critical partners. The work of equity takes continual external and internal work. This session will provide important tool to support you and your team.

Standards-aligned: CCSS R10, W10; Danielson: 1, 2a-b, 3, 4a, d-e; ISTE 1, 2, 3, 6, 7; Teaching Tolerance: Identity, Diversity, Justice, Action

Each session is linked to professional and learning standards. As every district is different, crosswalk these between your own standards for alignment or contact us with questions.
