Support Multilingual Writers

Carla España, TheEdCollab Fellow and coauthor of the upcoming "En Comunidad: Lessons for Centering the Voices and Experiences of Bilingual Latinx," and Tracey Flores, TheEdCollab Fellow and co-chair of the NCTE Latinx Caucus, will lead this session on affirming and growing the voices of our bilingual and multilingual students through writing. Using narrative writing's potential for exploring personal experiences and crafting stories to share with others, Carla and Tracey will layer on effective language supports to help students learning English and other languages grow. Writing within a community, developing ones own writing life, and finding the power of story—all are key factors for developing strong writing skills and advancing language development. This is a session you'll want to view with colleagues!
