Session 1 – Raise Your Voice: Podcasting as a Student-Centered Form of Assessment

Raise Your Voice!

Special guest, Christina Torres, joins TheEdCollab to kick off our 2019-2020 Study Series season! Christina is an English teacher at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She is a member of the Educolor Movement, a former Hope Street Group fellow, and an NEA Teacher Leadership Initiative member. Her articles have appeared in Education Week, Teaching Tolerance, her popular blog, and a number of other education publications. In this session, join Christina as she helps you explore the power of Podcasts, and other projects, to demonstrate learning. Using multi-modal publication, to create and compose, provide students with high levels of intellectual engagement while supporting their literacy development. Projects like these support students in better understanding concepts, practicing literacy skills, all the while expressing their opinions and ideas.

Standards-aligned: CCSS W1, W4-10; Danielson: 1, 2a-b, 3, 4a, d-e; ISTE 1, 2, 3, 6, 7; Teaching Tolerance: Identity, Diversity, Justice, Action

Each session is linked to professional and learning standards. As every district is different, crosswalk these between your own standards for alignment or contact us with questions.
