Research is clear, K-12 students show gains in achievement when they have choice of interesting, inclusive, and well-written texts. This session will help you not only consider additions to your classroom library, it will support you in rethinking the texts you read aloud and use during instruction to find ones that will better match your students and your instructional goals. This session is for you, if you’ve ever thought: “We need to find new books, but I’m not sure which ones my students will love,” or, “I love books! I can’t stop talking about them!” or “We are dedicated to making our text selections from inclusive, I need some suggestions for….” Full of energy and nonstop book-joy, this session will help you check-in midyear and make book plans for the future.
