Join this online cohort to study methods that help your students build stronger connections between your Reading and Writing workshops!
Members of this yearlong inquiry will study with educators from around the world, led by JoEllen McCarthy, a TheEdCollab Book Ambassador, and Shawna Coppola, Fellow of TheEdCollab and author of Renew!: Become a Better and More Authentic Writing Teacher. How can early readers bring the joy of hearing stories read aloud to their emergent writing? How can older writers not just wait for mentor texts, but begin mentoring themselves from their independent reading? You will create methods, explore strategies, and stay energized throughout the year in the company of this inspiring cohort. In addition to live cohort meetings, all Virtual Think Tank members receive a Full Year Study Series as part of their registration.

Study with Kate Roberts and Maggie Beattie Roberts, experts in child and young adult literacy and coauthors of DIY Literacy in this intensive cohort on creating engaging tools that make your teaching more efficient and effective and help your students' develop greater independence. Learn about a variety of make-and-take tools that help students see next steps. Devise together your own versions of tools, across the school year, receiving expert support along the way.

Design Reading Instruction That Is Culturally Relevant, Rigorous, and Responsive, 5-12

Join this online cohort to engage in critical inquiry into practices that open up our reading instruction to be a more inclusive, responsive, and ultimately support student growth.
Members of this yearlong inquiry will study with educators from around the world, led by Dr. Dana Stachowiak, TheEdCollab member and contributing author to Culturally Affirming Literacy Practices for Urban Elementary Students and Tricia Ebvaria, Fellow of TheEdCollab and co-founded of Disrupt Texts. Research shows that culturally affirming practices support student achievement, sense of self, and benefit entire school communities. Work with expert leaders and a cohort of engaged educators to move beyond your best work to create liberating curriculum and student-driven methods. In addition to live cohort meetings, all Virtual Think Tank members receive a Full Year Study Series as part of their registration.

Literacy Leadership: Methods and Mentoring For Leading Change, K-12

Join this online cohort specially designed for literacy leaders—Instructional Coaches, Dept. Chairs, Administrators, Supervisors, Mentors and similar roles—supporting you in methods and mindsets for leading colleagues through change.
Members of this yearlong inquiry will study with educators from around the world and be led by Dr. Dana Stachowiak, TheEdCollab member and Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Educational Leadership at UNC-Greensboro. Leadership can be difficult and sometimes a lonely role. Effective leaders employ responsive methods of adult learning while also nurturing for their own professional growth. This cohort will provide support, methods, structures and mentoring for new and experienced leaders! All Virtual Think Tank members receive a Full Year Study Series as part of their registration.
