Session 7 – Develop Strong Essay Writing with Paper and Tech

Kate Roberts, coauthor of DIY Literacy and TheEdCollab member and Pernille Ripp, author of Passionate Learners, will lead this session on lessons that develop strong essay writers. Too often our classrooms become filled with formulaic essay writing because we feel limited by strategies or mired down by “test prep” routines. Through digital tools and good ol’ pen and paper, this session will expand your essay writing practices to engage learners in meaningful (and skilled!) writing that is empowering to create and a joy to read.

Standards-aligned: CCSS W1, 4-6, 8-10; Danielson: 1, 2, 3, 4a, c-f; ISTE S1, 3, 6

Each session is linked to professional and learning standards. As every district is different, crosswalk these between your own standards for alignment or contact us with questions.
